A native of New York City, Steve Brill is the founder and President of The Lighting Design Group, established in 1989. Entering into the industry through NBC and The Cosby Show, his credits run the gamut from CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman to CNN’s yearly Heroes awards to dozens of presidential debates and conventions. Since 1992, Steve and LDG have been the designer of choice for NBC’s coverage of the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. They have also been the team behind NBC’s now-distinctive transformation of Rockefeller Center into Democracy Plaza for Decision 2004, ’08, ’12, and ’16. With Steve it is a point of much satisfaction and honor that you can turn on any television, anywhere you are, at any time, and see LDG’s work. 30 years and 16 Emmy Awards later, the proud Ithaca College graduate can be found boating in those rare moments away from work.

Dennis M. Size, Executive Vice-President of Design, first appeared on television over five decades ago, LIVE from the Scranton, PA television studio of ABC, tap dancing on the DAVID BLIGHT SHOW. After he proudly finished his routine, a curmudgeonly old stagehand took the cigar out of his mouth and said “You stink kid! You should consider a career in television lighting instead!” He took that advice and later, after a brief 18 year stint with the DISNEY/ABC-TV Network, he left his position as Senior Lighting Director and joined LDG, where he has been ‘making TV magic’ for the last 20 years.
Dennis has lit every President since Reagan, and has designed the lighting for dozens upon dozens of major projects such as NBC’s Today Show and ABC’s Good Morning America, shows for CNN and shows for FOX News; broadcast coverage of the 2016 DNC in Philadelphia and the 2016 RNC in Cleveland; talk shows such as Oprah, Ellen, Katie, The Chew, Dr Oz; and some truly ‘special’ events such as the ABC News interview with Pope Francis – Live at the Vatican.

Niel Galen is a Senior Lighting Designer whose recent clients include CNN, NBC, and CCTV (China Central Television – the world’s most watched tv broadcast). Niel’s earliest memory of light is watching the street lights dancing through the cracked rear windshield of his migrant educator parents’ Studebaker as they fled by night from one national park to the next. Eventually, Niel parlayed his interest in light, broken glass and Studebakers into a societally accepted job of making television. 20+ years after joining LDG, he still finds himself on the road from jail houses to St Peter’s Square and all over this planet lighting the famous and infamous. His work has garnered six Emmy Awards for lighting design and technical contributions. MFA: NYU Tisch
