Billy Albertelli

Lighting Designer

Billy Albertelli is the Managing Lighting Director for Bloomberg’s NYC facility and the Lighting Director for their BTV1 studio. Coming to LDG in 2013, the Massachusetts native initially served as Bloomberg ALD/LDG systems draftsman and has also designed for PBS’ American Songbook, Charlie Rose, and Marvel. Graduating from UConn with a BFA, he also worked on the lighting teams at Connecticut Repertory Theatre and Ogunquit Playhouse.

When not at Bloomberg, Billy stays involved with social justice issues and also enjoys a good RuPaul’s Drag Race viewing party.

My favorite project I have worked on is NBC’s Olympic Games coverage. I have worked on three Games (Tokyo, Beijing, and Paris) and each one has been an incredible experience. To work with the best in the industry on the largest event in the world has been a dream come true and I constantly pinch myself while working on them.

Dan Kelley, Sr. LD at LDG, has been an invaluable mentor to me. Dan’s designs are always beautiful and his attention to detail is staggering. I am thankful to have learned so much while working with him over the years.

I want people to know how connective this industry can be. This is an industry of relationships. You work so closely with colleagues, they become like family and these relationships come to fruition on projects time and time again. When you have the right team working together, it barely feels like “work” at all. The people keep you coming back for more.
